Acrylic
Also
recognized under the brand names of Plexiglas® and Lucite®,
acrylic is an optically clear, transparent material having outstanding
weather resistance, high impact strength, good chemical resistance, and is
easily thermoformed and fabricated. Formulations include sheet, rod and
tube. Acrylic sheet is available in various colors and tints.
Acrylic
is less than half the weight of glass and is suitable in a wide range of
applications. Some of the most requested items that we routinely fabricate
out of acrylic include; fume hoods, dry boxes, draft shields, instrument
covers and enclosures, safety shields, battery covers, flanged spools,
transparent tanks and sight glasses.
Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate
sheet (Lexan®, Hyzod®) is a virtually
unbreakable transparent thermoplastic. It is excellent in applications where
safety and security are essential. Formulations include sheet, rod and tube.
Polycarbonate is available in UV-resistant and scratch-resistant forms. It
can be used in many of the same applications as acrylic when impact strength
is a factor. Some common uses are as safety shields and enclosures, sight
glasses and chair mats.
PVC
Polyvinyl Chloride
PVC
sheet is medium impact, high corrosion resistant material, ideally suited
where chemical resistance is necessary. It's high strength-to-weight ratio,
cost efficiency, ease of fabrication and eco-balance make it an excellent
choice.
PVC is easily machined and is weldable. We routinely use PVC sheet to
fabricate various types of enclosures and covers, cabinets, fume hoods and
tanks, and in conjunction with PVC pipe and fittings.
PVC
pipe and
fittings give excellent, maintenance free performance over long periods of
time and have outstanding chemical resistance to nearly all acids, alkalis,
alcohols, halogens and many other corrosive materials.
CORZANTM
CPVC
Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride
CorzanTM
CPVC
sheet is a high heat, corrosion resistant material with properties similar
to PVC, but because of it's excellent corrosion resistance at elevated
temperatures, it is ideally suited for self-supporting construction where
high temperatures are a concern.
We have extensive experience with CPVC as a construction material, including
tower internals and many other process applications.
CPVC
pipe and fittings gain advantage over PVC by retaining mechanical strength
at higher temperatures.
HDPE
High Density Polyethylene
HDPE
is an economical, high impact, lightweight thermoplastic which
characteristics include excellent chemical resistance, high tensile
strength, resilience, stress crack and abrasion resistance. It is easily
machined and requires welded or mechanical style of construction.
We use HDPE to fabricate many items for the laboratory and plant processes,
including tanks, countertops, catch pans, fume hoods and lab ware carriers.
It meets FDA and USDA requirements.
UHMWPE
Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene
UHMWPE
has extremely high abrasion resistance when compared to other
thermoplastics. It also has exceptional impact resistance, even at cryogenic
temperatures, is chemical resistant and is self-lubricating. UHMWPE meets
FDA and USDA requirements.
